Tēnei tūranga - About the Role:


As a Senior Advisor, you will play a critical role in supporting the effective delivery of the Government’s economic growth priorities through high-quality governance and secretariat functions.


You will work at the centre of the programme, coordinating inputs across MBIE and other agencies to support senior officials and Ministers with clear, accurate and well-aligned advice and materials.


You will:
•    Lead end-to-end secretariat support for key governance forums, including Going for Growth and the Economic CEs forum
•    Coordinate and quality-assure cross-agency inputs to deliver high-quality briefings, meeting materials and reporting
•    Identify risks, gaps and emerging issues, ensuring these are addressed ahead of governance discussions
•    Contribute to programme reporting and provide insights to support decision-making


The role also provides the opportunity to support strategic business engagement, including contributing to the planning and delivery of Ministerial and senior leader engagements.
This is a role at the centre of a high-profile programme. It intersects policy, delivery and stakeholder engagement, requiring sound judgement, political awareness, and the ability to deliver high-quality work effectively.

Skills and Experience Required
 

We are looking for someone who operates confidently across multiple workstreams in a delivery-focused environment, bringing sound judgement, strong attention to detail, political awareness, and a collaborative approach to delivering high-quality outcomes.


We are keen to hear from you if you have:
•    5+ years of experience in a public sector policy, advisory or governance role
•    Experience providing secretariat, governance, or programme support in a complex environment
•    Experience supporting senior leaders and/or Ministerial processes
•    Strong written communication skills, including preparing briefings and papers for senior audiences
•    Excellent planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
•    Strong relationship management skills and the ability to work across teams and agencies
•    Sound judgement, an understanding of government processes and political awareness
•    Experience undertaking research and analysis to inform advice or decision-making
•    A proactive, adaptable mindset and a commitment to delivery
