Tō mātou ahurea me ngā uara - Our culture and values

Kia hihiko koe - Bring your whole self to work

Our people are connected by our common goal of sustainably growing New Zealand’s economy for the benefit of our people. No matter the role, the department or the purpose, across MBIE the outcome remains the same – in everything we do, we’re improving the lives of New Zealanders.

At MBIE, our way of working is guided by our Values and aligning behaviours.

Our people are our priority. Through our Values, we’ve created an environment where people want to come each day, where they feel safe to be themselves, and where they’re empowered to strive to reach their personal goals. We use the Te Whare Tapa Whā to support Hauora (wellbeing) providing a sense of place and support. This positive health, safety and wellbeing culture is backed by robust practices, policies and procedures.

Ruia te kanorua kia puāwai - Inclusive and diverse

At MBIE we believe an inclusive environment recognises, values and respects the differences of our people, allowing everyone to do their best work. We want MBIE to be a safe and inclusive place to achieve, where people have a strong sense of belonging and are comfortable bringing their unique selves to work.

Whakanui Tangata - Celebration and recognition

Celebrating our everyday wins is an important part of our culture. Our teams, branches and groups regularly get together to recognise and celebrate colleagues who demonstrate our values and go the extra mile to make MBIE successful.

Tiaki Tangata - We look after you
