NZGP is a branch within The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE). We have a vision for New Zealand’s government procurement to be fair, transparent, inclusive, and efficient. It will deliver more value and respond to changing government priorities. 


While we live and breathe procurement, our branch is a support function to those doing the mahi in the procurement system – government agencies and the suppliers and providers they work with. 

 

Reporting to the Manager Business Relationships you will be assisting with the delivery of strategic Supplier Relationship Management support to government agencies. This work aims to support the development of contract management and strategic SRM capability in agencies through a tool kit of resources and training activities.


You will work to identify and collaborate with the most critical suppliers on a pan-government basis. The team is responsible for facilitating opportunities for collaboration with suppliers, markets, and agencies across the system.
You will be a source of knowledge and guidance for the team, and actively and regularly engage in coaching and mentoring of other team members.


Our team works to bring back the customer voice and ensure they are getting the best support available from NZGP. You will work with suppliers and businesses wanting to engage with the government procurement system regularly, ensuring they are also well supported. You will have a customer focus, ensuring a positive customer experience.

  • Extensive expertise in Supplier Relationship Management (SRM), category management, and contract management, with a strong interest in strategic SRM practices.
  • Proven commercial and procurement analysis skills, with the ability to design and implement robust, effective strategies and solutions.
  • Superior ability to influence and collaborate with external agencies and suppliers.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, demonstrating a proactive approach to building relationships and delivering creative solutions that meet stakeholder needs.
  • A strong client service ethic and good relationship management skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and high-quality commercial documentation for diverse audiences.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills; demonstrated by credibility, personal or collaborative influence, managing expectations and targeted persuasion.
  • Self-motivated and accountable, with a proactive attitude and the ability to quickly adapt and take ownership of responsibilities.
  • Strong multitasking and project management skills, capable of effectively balancing multiple priorities and initiatives.
  • Significant experience in influencing and negotiating with stakeholders, suppliers, and senior managers and driving innovation, added value and benefit realisation.
  • Must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand.
  • Relevant qualifications or membership in a related field are desirable.
