Tēnei tūranga - About the Role:

 

We are looking for an experienced Strategic Communications Specialist to lead a focused uplift in proactive storytelling and strengthen our content and digital channels, supporting the Regional Development & Commercial Services (RDCS) Group at MBIE.


This is a hands-on, strategic role suited to someone who can quickly bring structure, clarity and momentum to a busy communications function. You’ll help deliver compelling stories that demonstrate the impact of regional investment, while also embedding tools, processes and capability that support sustained, high-quality proactive communications

We’re seeking someone with:


•    Demonstrated experience at a Principal Advisor or senior strategic communications level
•    Strong storytelling and content development skills, including case studies and narrative development 
•    Understanding of web and social channels and how content strategies integrate across them
•    Experience leading proactive storytelling in government or complex organisations
•    Media engagement experience (supporting pitches, shaping opportunities, engaging alongside wider team)
•    High EQ and excellent relationship management skills
•    Political nous and solid judgement, with comfort navigating sensitive contexts
•    Hands-on delivery capability paired with strategic thinking
•    Experience coaching and lifting communications capability
