Tēnei tūranga - About the Role:

 

As a Senior Technical Specialist, you will be a trusted subject matter expert providing high-quality, timely strategic and technical advice across the Building or Electrical sectors.

 

You’ll lead complex technical work, contribute to operational policy, and support licensing, compliance, and investigations. This role is pivotal in driving regulatory excellence and shaping the future of industry standards.

  • Lead technical advisory services and strategic initiatives in the Building or Electrical sectors.
  • Provide expert advice to regulatory Boards, stakeholders, and internal teams.
  • Support statutory decision-making processes and competency assessments.
  • Monitor industry trends and regulatory risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and maintain technical content for guidance materials and communications.
  • Lead cross-sector projects and contribute to policy and service improvement initiatives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with industry stakeholders and training providers.

Skills and Experience Required
 

  • Extensive experience and deep technical knowledge in the Building or Electrical sectors. Knowledge of the Licensed Building Practitioners or Electrical Workers Registration scheme is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance and licensing frameworks.
  • Proven ability to influence, engage, and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information into plain English.
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills to solve complex regulatory challenges.
  • Experience working in dynamic, ambiguous environments with high political awareness.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification, industry qualifications, or equivalent experience.
