Tēnei tūranga - About the Roles:
We are seeking Senior Policy Advisors keen to put their policy expertise to use on once in a generation reforms to New Zealand’s science, innovation, and technology system.
Permanent, full-time roles are available for the following teams:
Innovation Policy: The team enables Scientists and Researchers, innovative businesses, and entrepreneurs to turn their groundbreaking ideas into commercial success by providing advice on research and development and grants and other financial support initiatives to lift innovation and commercialisation. It also advises on institutional arrangements to deliver innovation support, and gaps and opportunities to strengthen New Zealand’s innovation ecosystem.
Biotechnology Policy and Regulation: This team advises on and implements initiatives to enable and lift emerging ‘tech’ sectors contribution to New Zealand’s economic performance. A current focus for the team is developing and implementing a new regulatory system for gene technologies.

We are keen to hear from you if you are a high-performing senior policy advisor or policy advisor that has:
- A good base of experience in government policy.
- Knowledge of policy development disciplines and processes, and demonstrable experience in applying these to the analysis of policy issues and formulating high-quality policy advice.
- An ability to build requisite knowledge for different policy issues quickly by drawing on information and evidence from multiple and diverse sources.
- An ability to communicate complex issues clearly and coherently.
- A positive, can-do attitude and is flexible and adaptive to changes in requirements.
- You must also be a New Zealand Citizen or permanent resident.
