Tēnei tūranga - About the Role:

 

As a Senior PMO Advisor, you’ll provide expert advice and support across project, programme, and portfolio management (P3M) governance, assurance, and delivery frameworks. You’ll work closely with project managers, business groups, and senior stakeholders to ensure effective project lifecycle management, from initiation through to closure.


You’ll be part of a high-performing team in the Strategy, Technology and Security branch, helping to lift project capability and maturity across MBIE.  


What you’ll be doing:

 

  • Leading the implementation and continuous improvement of P3M frameworks and governance structures.
  • Supporting project steering groups, investment boards, and senior stakeholders.
  • Establishing and maintaining PMO assurance functions and dashboards.
  • Facilitating workshops on risk, benefits, lessons learned, and post-implementation reviews.
  • Responding to audits, quality assurance reviews, and Official Information Act requests.

Ngā pukenga me ngā wheako e hiahiatia ana - Skills and Experience Required:

 

  • 5+ years’ experience in a PMO or project environment managing complex projects and programmes.
  • Proven experience in establishing and operating within a high-performing PMO or EPMO.
  • Strong knowledge of project quality assurance and control methodologies.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., PRINCE2, MSP, PMI, Agile, Portfolio Management).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Advanced analytical skills and a high level of attention to detail.
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
