Tēnei tūranga - About the Role:


Our Operational Policy team sits in the heart of Immigration New Zealand, influencing policy advice and implementing Government policy decisions. We have a great team culture which produces high quality work in a fun environment. We work closely with our operational and policy colleagues to advise on impacts of policy proposals and we operationalise changes by updating our immigration instructions, and working with wider MBIE teams to make changes to application forms, operating procedures for frontline staff and ICT technology. The team is part of the Immigration Design and Assurance branch which contributes to the Immigration System by designing and delivering changes that meet the needs of our people and our customers.

As a Senior Business Analyst in the Operational Policy team, you will have an important role in analysing a range of aspects of New Zealand's immigration system and operational policy settings, and influencing immigration policy advice. A key part of your work will be implementing policy changes, including designing operational policy solutions and writing immigration instructions, as well as working with others across MBIE to change forms, online systems, and create products to support frontline staff. Senior Business Analysts are expected to both lead and work as part of a team to deliver operational policy projects.

Skills and Experience Required
 

  • Experience in working in a team delivering change in a collaborative environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of the immigration instructions, processes, and policy.
  • Ability to identify impacts, analyse issues and design solutions.
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships across the organisation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including ability to write for Ministers.
  • Extensive knowledge of Immigration New Zealand’s operating environment or relevant experience in a similar context.
  • Must be a New Zealand citizen or Permanent Resident.
