Tēnei tūranga - About the Role:
We’re looking for a seasoned professional to join our Planning, Risk, and Assurance team as a Senior Risk and Assurance Advisor. This is a pivotal role focused on leading and supporting assurance activities, designing modern compliance approaches, and advising on their implementation across MBIE’s large and complex corporate groups.
You’ll play a key role in delivering our Assurance Framework, coordinating and conducting assurance reviews, and providing actionable insights to senior leaders. Your work will ensure MBIE meets its legislative, regulatory, and policy obligations through pragmatic, fit-for-purpose compliance methodologies.
This is a unique opportunity to shape assurance and compliance practices from the ground up, working collaboratively across ICT, data, finance, commercial and programme management functions. You’ll help transform risk and assurance from a compliance exercise into a strategic enabler of performance and continuous improvement.

• 5+ years’ experience in audit, assurance, or compliance, with a solid understanding of risk management principles.
• Proven experience in leading and undertaking complex assurance and compliance activities.
• Strong understanding of best practice frameworks, methodologies, tools, and techniques in assurance and compliance.
• Ability to design and implement scalable, efficient compliance approaches tailored to diverse operational environments.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
• Strong analytical, communication, and reporting capabilities.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work under pressure.
• Must hold or be eligible to obtain a National Security Clearance.
