Tēnei tūranga - About the Role:

 

We are looking for a Senior Adviser Risk to join our Enterprise Risk, Compliance and Insurance team. This team provides expert advice, guidance and support to help the business manage enterprise risk and compliance and minimise financial losses through insurance.  


The team has a broad and interesting work programme including:

 

  • Developing and implementing a best practice enterprise risk framework which ensures that MBIE manages risk effectively across all Three Lines  
  • Working with other risk and assurance teams to coordinate risk management and reporting
  • Coordinating regular risk reporting across MBIE to ensure our Senior Leadership team, governance committees and our Risk and Advisory committee have the right information to govern risk management at MBIE.

 

The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing strategies that address emerging risks and ensure robust compliance measures are integrated throughout MBIE's operations. They will liaise with various departments, fostering a culture of risk awareness and proactive risk management.

 

Your role will involve working with a network of specialist risk practitioners across MBIE as well as your colleagues to support effective risk management and ensure that risk information is timely and relevant. The team offers a collaborative and stimulating environment where you can thrive and develop professionally.

 

This is a great role for an existing Senior Risk Advisor to move into risk management at the enterprise level or an experienced advisor looking to take a step up. Your experience in assurance, risk, or compliance will support your transition to the enterprise role, where you will play a key part in helping MBIE manage the complexity of the modern risk environment.

We are keen to hear from you if you have:

 

  • Experience working in risk, compliance or assurance in a large or complex organisation
  • A track record of working with effective risk management strategies
  • Strong analytical skills, and the ability to interpret complex data and present actionable insights to senior leadership.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • A strong delivery drive
  • The ability to build strong and collaborative working relationships
  • The legal right to live and work in New Zealand
