About the Role - Tēnei tūranga:

The Tenancy Practice and Stewardship team is responsible for ensuring quality and consistency of operational practice, providing advice and reporting across Tenancy Services, supporting the work needed to deliver on our strategic and tactical goals.

This role will support the Head of Tenancy with managing Tenancy Services wide strategic and operational activities, support the Tenancy Services Principal Advisor with strategic projects and lead monthly and quarterly machinery of government and reporting activities.  Key to the role will be relationship building across Tenancy Services and wider across MBIE and across system agencies.

This is a fast-paced role best suited to someone with experience in Government operational service delivery.  The successful candidate will be someone who thrives in ambiguity, constant change of priorities and who can manage and prioritise their work whilst building solid relationships across the Tenancy sector. You will be comfortable moving between system-level thinking, providing senior-level advice and practical delivery.

You’ll also have the opportunity to:

• Be involved in a range of projects across Tenancy Services delivering both operational and strategic results, including system maturity work.
• Be a key person in co-ordinating and delivering Tenancy Services reporting and business plans.
• Be a key person in the management and delivery of Tenancy Services obligations around OIA and Media responses.
• Support the Tenancy Services Leadership team and the system Governance Group with their priorities.
• Work with teams across the Tenancy sector to support fast paced, operational service delivery.

Skills and Experience Required

• A solid understanding and experience in machinery of government requirements within the public sector.
• Experience with Government operational service delivery environments is preferred.
• Experience planning and delivering key pieces of work/projects, to meet business needs.
• Strong relationship management skills with proven success building strong connections.
• Well-developed professional written and verbal communication abilities.
• Persistent and rigorous approach to problem solving.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Proactive, self-starter who thrives in an ambiguous, fast moving, ever changing operational environment.
• Must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand.
