We’re seeking an experienced Senior Advisor for a fixed term or secondment opportunity within the Economic Growth Programmes team, supporting the Government’s Economic Growth agenda. This role sits at the heart of government and plays a key role in supporting high profile initiatives, including Going for Growth and the Economic Chief Executives Forum.


This opportunity is ideal for a strong advisor looking to broaden their experience, gain exposure to senior decision makers, and contribute to nationally significant priorities in a fast paced environment. 

Tēnei tūranga - About the Role:


As a Senior Advisor, you will provide high quality secretariat and coordination support for governance arrangements that underpin the Government’s Economic Growth priorities. Working across MBIE and multiple government agencies, you will collate and coordinate advice, prepare governance papers and meeting packs, and ensure senior leaders have the information they need to make informed decisions.


The role requires strong judgement, excellent coordination skills, and the ability to manage multiple workstreams while maintaining a high standard of accuracy, professionalism, and responsiveness.

We’re looking for someone who can operate confidently in a complex and evolving public sector environment. You will bring:

  • Proven attention to detail and strong planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines concurrently
  • Excellent process management and coordination capability
  • Strong conceptual thinking and problem solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Clear and concise written communication skills, particularly in producing reports and papers for senior officials and Ministers
  • A self motivated and results driven approach
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and confidence working collaboratively at all levels
  • Political nous, sound judgement, flexibility, and a strong sense of teamwork in a demanding and sometimes unpredictable environment
  • A growth mindset and eagerness to learn, develop, and contribute positively to the team
