Tēnei tūranga - About the Role:

 

The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) is seeking a strategic Senior Advisor Data and Information to support learning and capability building initiatives within the Data Enablement and Performance team. This high-impact role focuses on building capability, enabling data literacy, and driving change across a complex, diverse environment.


We’re looking for someone with learning and development experience who can work at both strategic and operational levels. You’ll have a solid grasp of learning principles, experience designing scalable programmes, and the ability to engage staff, influence stakeholders, and turn organisational needs into effective learning solutions.


As an experienced Senior Advisor you will lead initiatives to solve MBIE challenges, champion the smart use of data as we grow the Ministry’s maturity in data and knowledge and provide new and innovative ways for our people to grow their data and knowledge capability.


You will help strengthen data culture and talent across MBIE and will also have a commitment to innovation, continuous improvement and generating new ideas and ways of doing things.

Skills and Experience Required
 

We are keen to hear from you if you have:

 

  • Experience at the Senior Sdvisor level, having led initiatives to improve capability uplift
  • Solid experience in creating and delivering learning, including video creation and editing skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage across the organisation
  • Clear concise writing, editing and oral communication skills
  • Experience in or understanding of data or information management practices
  • Proven ability to introduce new ways of looking at problems and adopt creative new approaches
  • You must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand


Please note this is not a role for a purist Data Analyst – you should have solid experience in learning and development.
