On behalf of the Minister for Commerce and Consumer Affairs, the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) is seeking candidates for appointment to the role of Commissioner at the Retirement Commission. The Retirement Commission aims to help improve the financial futures of New Zealanders for a better retirement for all. The Commission focuses on helping people not only with information and skills, but with the confidence they need to plan and develop their own long-term wellbeing.
The Retirement Commissioner is a corporation sole, meaning the Commissioner holds both governance and managerial responsibilities.

Person specifications
Specific skills required
- Extensive senior leadership and/or governance experience
- Demonstrated skills in effective and principled advocacy.
- The ability to connect different stakeholders to achieve a collective public benefit.
- A sound understanding of public policy development.
- Experience in evaluating policy or project outcomes to drive continual improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to lead public education and engagement initiatives.
- Familiarity with public education programmes
- Experience working with or advising government ministers and agencies.
- Proven ability to lead and develop a strong and cohesive multi-disciplinary team is crucial.
