Tēnei tūranga - About the Role:

We have an exciting opportunity available for two regulatory specialists to join the team. 

The Building System Assurance team is responsible for a range of building regulatory functions involving regulatory compliance, monitoring and assurance, and service delivery.  These functions include contributing to customer education, maintenance of assurance schemes, contributing sound judgment and technical knowledge and informing decisions on product investigations, warnings and bans.

This role calls for a focus on supporting compliance and monitoring functions across the team.

Reporting to the Manager Compliance and Assurance, you will be responsible for monitoring, reviewing and reporting on the performance of territorial authorities, building consent authorities and regional councils. 

We are looking for regulatory specialists who can bring analytical rigor, strategic thinking, and a risk-based approach to regulatory compliance. 

What You’ll Do:

• Work on compliance initiatives that enhance regulatory oversight across the building system
• Collect, analyse, and interpret regulatory data to identify and report on trends and risks
• Investigate complaints that relate to the performance of building control functions  
• Implement assurance frameworks that support robust regulatory decision-making

Skills and Experience Required
 

• Proven experience in regulatory compliance
• Strong data collection, analysis, and reporting skills to support evidence and risk-based regulation 
• A strategic thinker who can navigate complex regulatory environments
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• Must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand
