Tēnei tūranga - About the Role:
As the Programme and Business Support Manager, you will report to the Manager, System Performance and Implementation and lead a small team based in Wellington and Christchurch.
This is a key leadership role responsible for:
Programme Management
• Supporting responsible managers with the development and coordination of priority work programmes across the branch.
• Ensuring effective risk and issue tracking and maintaining programme records.
• Driving innovation in priority work programme reporting and project management tools.
• Supporting post-project reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
Business Support
• Overseeing ministerial servicing (ie weekly reports coordination).
• Overseeing branch coordination activity, including budget and resource tracking and reporting.
• Providing system governance groups and advisory panels with coordination and secretarial support.
• Supporting stakeholder engagement coordination and reporting and other administrative activities (as required).

Skills and Experience Required
To be successful, you should demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills, be well organised and able to work under pressure.
Additionally, you will have:
• 3+ years’ experience in project management/PMO roles in structured project delivery environments in the public sector.
• Professional Qualification in Project or Programme management or other related field, or extensive comparable experience.
• Expert knowledge and wide experience across programme coordination disciplines with a good understanding of contemporary best practice principles.
• Experience of delivering project or programme management in a Government / policy setting.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to engage successfully and credibly at multiple organisational levels.
• A team player, willing to contribute as necessary to deliver outcomes of a high standard and to drive the increasing maturity of the branch’s support functions.
• Experience in a people leader position is preferred.
• Legal right to work in New Zealand.
About the System Performance and Implementation team
The System Performance and Implementation team provides expertise, insights and knowledge to support the effective operation of the building regulatory system and to deliver high quality implementation of policy changes.
The team has a number of regulatory functions and responsibilities, including:
• leading the branch stakeholder engagement frameworks and approach
• leading the improvement of performance monitoring of building regulatory system outcomes
• leading the improvement of internal processes, particularly allocation and tracking processes for building levy expenditure
• driving cross system governance and regulatory partnerships for the building system
• providing programme management and planning support and capability to priority work programmes
• leading the design and implementation of new changes to the building regulatory system, including leading the development of implementation material required to successfully implement new policy change.
