Tēnei tūranga - About the Role:

 

We are looking for a regulatory specialist, ideally with experience in the energy or natural resources sector, to support decision-makers by providing advanced regulatory expertise and leadership across multiple regulatory regimes – petroleum and minerals, offshore renewable energy and fast-track projects. 


The Principal Regulatory Advisor will call on a set of core competencies, including intellectual technical leadership, insight and analysis, identification of regulatory risk and problem-solving capability.


A collaborative working style is required as the role will work across various teams in MBIE and externally with industry and sector participants, other government agencies, and iwi. 

We are open to the role being based outside of Wellington or Auckland for the right candidate.

Skills and Experience Required
 

•    A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a senior regulator in a relevant regulatory function
•    Tertiary qualification in a relevant regulatory, legal or technical discipline
•    Extensive commercial regulation or operational experience, preferably working in energy or natural resources
•    Ability to work collaboratively and deliver information clearly to a range of audiences
