Our value add as a team includes:

  • our ability to lead policy work that will significantly impact on Māori economic prosperity
  • our ability to integrate our Māori economic prosperity policy capability into key work programmes that will shift the dial and to empower teams to do this themselves.
  • our ability to broker relationships between agencies and MBIE teams to advance impactful pieces of work; and
  • our external focus in proactively seeking the views of Māori to inform our work in a measured, structured, and authentic way.

Developing our staff is a key focus of our team. We provide leadership opportunities and support for staff to excel and have a culture where staff are empowered to think laterally and creatively to overcome intractable and ambiguous policy issues.

We proactively support development through on-the-job learning, training courses, conferences and seminars. We also value work-life balance and the wellbeing of our staff and are conscious of managing workloads and of providing enough flexibility to manage priorities outside of work.
