Tēnei tūranga - About the Role:
This is a leadership role within the System Performance and Implementation team, reporting to the Manager, System Performance and Implementation. The role combines people leadership with hands on delivery of high impact work.
The role will lead system level performance monitoring and reporting for the building regulatory system, turning insights into clear advice for governance groups, Ministers and stakeholders. You will play a key role in embedding continuous improvement by integrating insights into policy and technical change.
The role will oversee building research and evaluation activity for the building system, including overseeing system level funding processes and managing external research or evaluation providers.
This is a newly established team, offering the opportunity to help shape, build, and grow a critical regulatory function.

For the role of Performance, Insights and Evaluation Manager, ideally you will have the following qualities:
- Proven ability to lead, manage, coach and develop high performing teams
- Strong relationship management and confident communicator at all levels, including senior stakeholders
- Proven ability to build trust and credibility with senior management and partners
- Advanced qualitative and quantitative analytical skills, combining evidence with clear storytelling
- Experience in monitoring and reporting of system performance using robust frameworks and tools
- Experience with research methodologies, evaluation designs, and emerging best practices
- Knowledge and/or demonstrated experience of contestable research funding processes
- Applies strategic, systems and critical thinking to inform sound decision making
- Financial and budget management experience
- Strong understanding of the public sector and government processes
- Must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand
Knowledge of or understanding of the building regulatory system or the building research environment in New Zealand is an advantage, but not a requirement.
