We have two openings for experienced Personal Assistants / Team Administrators to support our Immigration Policy teams or the Employment Relations and Employment Standards Policy teams.

 

About the Teams and Branch


Employment, Skills, and Immigration Branch


The Immigration (Border & Funding) Policy teams sit within MBIE’s Employment, Skills, and Immigration branch.

 

Border & Funding Immigration Policy Team


The teams work on a broad range of immigration policy matters ranging from review of the Immigration Act, settings for both temporary and residence visas covering work, partnership/family, visitor, and student policies and international commitments. This role will give you exposure to interesting work content that significantly contributes to New Zealand’s labour market Aotearoa. 

 

 

Workplace Relations and Safety Policy Branch 

The Employment Relations Policy and Employment Standards teams sit within MBIE’s Workplace Relations and Safety Policy branch which is a busy regulatory policy branch covering employment relations and standards, international labour, health and safety, and ACC. 

 

Employment Relations Policy Team

 

There are currently nine people in the Employment Relations Policy team. The team looks after the Employment Relations Act and associated legislation, like the Equal Pay Act.  The team is currently leading the work the Government has underway on the Coalition commitment to consider changes to simplify personal grievance provisions.

 

Employment Standards Policy Team

 

There are also currently nine people in the Employment Standards team, and they provide advice to the Government on minimum employment standards like parental leave and the minimum wage. One of the team’s current big projects is the review of the Holidays Act.

We are seeking an organised administrator with an open mind, a willingness to learn and can complete tasks, no matter how big or how small with a great “get the job done right” attitude.  You will provide administrative support in a pragmatic and constructive way that will enable the teams to keep commitments and to achieve deliverables. You will be supporting the policy teams to connect with internal and external stakeholders, other ministries, and provide advice to Ministers. This role will give you exposure to interesting work content that significantly contributes to the wellbeing of Aotearoa.

Ngā pukenga me ngā wheako e hiahiatia ana - Skills and Experience Required:

 

  • Proven experience in a similar Personal Assistant or administrative role.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Suite packages including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Adobe.
  • Diary management for busy diaries with changing priorities strong time management, organisational skills, and the ability to work under limited supervision and to tight deadlines. 
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism. 
  • Proactive work style and strong initiative.  
  • Must have legal right to live and work in New Zealand.
