About the Board

The New Zealand Standards Approval Board is established under the Standards and Accreditation Act 2015 to support Standards New Zealand in its development process, providing independent decision making and checks and balances. The Board’s functions include appointing members of standards development committees, approving proposed new standards or modifications to old standards and adopting other standards organisations as New Zealand Standards. The Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs is the responsible Minister for the Board. Person specifications - Member

The Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs intends to make one appointment to the Board and is seeking candidates who can provide one or more of the following skills and experience:

  • strong contemporary energy sector experience and knowledge, with specific understanding of the electricity sector
  • strong connections and networks in the energy sector (electricity, gas and renewable energy).

Collectively, members of the Board must have knowledge and experience of, and capability in:
•    the sectors that use standards
•    experience necessary to approve New Zealand standards
•    experience to perform the function of the Board.
