Tēnei tūranga - About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced people and technical leader in programme and business management to join our resource markets branch!

The Manager Programme and Branch Services (Resource Markets) is a strategic leadership role within MBIE, tasked with ensuring the effective delivery of programme management, quality assurance, governance, ministerial servicing, and administrative functions across the Resource Markets branch.

This role supports the cohesive operation of multiple policy and regulatory teams supporting three regulatory systems across the resources sector: Crown Minerals, Offshore Renewable Energy, and Fuel Security.  The manager plays a key role in maintaining high standards of quality, efficiency, and consistency across all regulatory and branch functions, reporting to the General Manager Resource Markets. 

This is a new team, and we’re looking for an experienced manager who can set the team up for success and lift the capability of the whole branch, so we collectively successfully deliver on a large programme of fast-paced and significant change to all three regulatory systems, from policy through to operations.

Skills and Experience Required
 

• Demonstrated success in leading business management and programme delivery functions, with a strong track record in motivating teams, building capability, and fostering a supportive culture.
• Experience in implementing quality improvement strategies to enhance productivity and service delivery, alongside a solid grasp of project and risk management principles.
• Deep understanding of government decision-making processes, financial and legislative frameworks, and public sector accountability and reporting requirements.
• Strong relationship management and communication skills, with the ability to influence across multiple levels and navigate complex, politically sensitive environments.
• Skilled in quickly assimilating new information, identifying risks and issues, and driving continuous improvement with attention to detail and evidence-based decision-making.
