Tēnei tūranga - About the Role:
This is a senior analytical leadership role focused on ensuring high quality, trusted data services are delivered to support organisational priorities. You’ll sit at the intersection of data, technology, and business, providing domain leadership and shaping how data is used to deliver value.
The Domains team supports policy analysis, regulatory monitoring, and decision-making by delivering high-quality, trusted data assets and innovative analytical solutions. It is made up of five data domains that support MBIE portfolios. We support and influence the policy debate and provide direct advice to Government and information to stakeholders and the public.
In this role you will:
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of data services within the tourism domain, ensuring outcomes are aligned to business priorities
- Work closely with policy teams to support the development of evidence-based tourism policy settings and translation of business needs insights, and recommendations
- Provide analytical and technical leadership across initiatives, embedding best practice and continuous improvement
- Partner with senior stakeholders, product owners, and delivery teams to ensure data is fit for purpose and trusted

Skills and Experience Required
We would love to hear from you if you have:

Demonstrated in-depth experience in using a range of analytical methodologies and latest developments in techniques and practices.

Experience in project planning and management techniques.

Strong quantitative and quantitative skills. Experience in leading forecasting and modelling projects is desirable.

Experience in managing, leading, coaching and mentoring others.

Strong relationship management and confident communicator at all levels.

An understanding of the Ministry’s role and a strong understanding of the machinery of government.

Experience in leading complex pieces of work concurrently, managing competing priorities.

Demonstrated experience in the public sector would be advantageous.

The flexibility to work across different teams and domains as needed.

The legal right to live and work in New Zealand and be able to satisfy the Ministry’s security clearance requirements.
Qualifications
- A relevant post graduate tertiary qualification. Qualifications in economics, statistical modelling and/or forecasting/prediction are desirable.
