About the role:

Reporting to Software Engineer Team Lead this specialist position has the purpose of helping to deliver solutions for MBIE.


The Functional Consultant will understand requirements and configure platforms used by our internal and external customers through a combination of project and support work. They will be able to determine the capability of the platform and decide whether the requirement can be met, with a focus on configuration not code.

Skills and experience required:

We are keen to hear from you if you have/are:


  • 5+ years' experience as a Functional Consultant or as a Technical Analyst, preferably Dynamics 365 and PowerApps.
  • Comfortable facilitating requirements gathering sessions.
  • Has demonstrated experience in working and integrating with SaaS products.
  • A curious mind and a desire to learn about technical innovations and how they may be applied to the MBIE environment.
  • A willingness to learn skills in new technology in order to achieve a common goal.
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to effectively present a point of view to a variety of audiences.
  • An analytical mind who can make connections between various aspects of the organization and can contribute to a cohesive approach across all aspects of a technology-enabled business.
  • Ability to quickly establish and build strong working relationships and develop trust, credibility, 'buy-in' and collaboration with managers, staff, vendors and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under pressure and with deadlines while taking ownership of tasks and seeing them through. 
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize workloads.




  • A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience.
  • Agile and DevOps delivery methodology experience is desired.
  • You must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand and gain National Security Clearance.
