Tēnei tūranga - About the Role:

We are seeking multiple Data Analysts for the Performance and Reporting (P&R) team.

 
The P&R team within the Operations, Tasking and Improvement (OTI) branch is accountable for the provision of timely information and insights to inform sound strategic and operational decision making at all levels across the immigration system. The P&R functions act as the single source of truth for all INZ official data queries. The team provides reporting and insights to key internal and external customers. 

As a Data Analyst, you will bring your understanding of data extraction, analysis and reporting to contribute to the success of the P&R team. You will support OTI and other business units on Parliamentary Questions (PQs), Official Information Act requests (OIAs), media query responses and process changes. 

You will manage data projects and work collaboratively with other Analysts, subject matter experts, and stakeholders to provide accurate data products in agreed timeframes. It would be preferable if you have some forecasting, prescriptive analysis and simulation experience. 

In this role you will be:
 
Providing analytical support and advice to management across various business areas within Immigration New Zealand (INZ) and external stakeholders
•    Providing reporting within INZ
•    Scoping data requests and engage with customers within INZ to meet their data needs
•    Ensuring quality standards are upheld.

Skills and Experience Required
 

•    Tertiary qualification in a numerate subject or comparable relevant experience (minimum 2 years' experience)
•    Skills in database and analytical tools such as SAS EG, SAS Visual Analytics, SQL, Power BI and MS Excel
•    Ability to translate complex and technical information into information easily understood by non-technical audiences 
•    Organised with good time and task management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and demands from stakeholders
•    Ability to identify the appropriate analytical technique to apply to a given type of problem
•    Ability to self-manage and be personally accountable
•    To work for Immigration NZ you must be a NZ Permanent Resident or NZ Citizen.
