Tēnei tūranga - About the Role:
The Continuous Improvement Advisor is a member of the Discovery, Design and Change team within New Zealand Government Procurement (NZGP).
Each year, the New Zealand Government spends more than $50 billion on goods and services essential to public services, infrastructure, economic growth and the wellbeing of New Zealanders. NZGP is responsible for leading the settings, outcomes and performance of the government procurement system to ensure this spend delivers value.
In this role, you will work collaboratively across NZGP and with public sector agencies to identify opportunities for improvement, understand customer and user needs, and support the design and implementation of pragmatic, fit for purpose solutions. You will apply continuous improvement and change methods alongside business analysis approaches such as reviewing processes, capturing requirements, facilitating conversations and translating insights into clear improvement actions.
This is a hands on, people focused role. You’ll be comfortable facilitating workshops, engaging a wide range of stakeholders, and working alongside service designers, subject matter experts and delivery teams to test, refine and embed improvements. You will also contribute to the development of tools, templates and guidance that support more consistent, efficient and user‑centred procurement practices across government.

Ngā pukenga me ngā wheako e hiahiatia ana - Skills and Experience Required
- Experience applying continuous improvement or change approaches to real world problems, including reviewing and improving processes, tools or services
- Experience working in or alongside projects, particularly small to medium sized initiatives, from discovery through to implementation
- Well developed facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to lead workshops, collaborate with diverse stakeholders and bring people together through change
- Strong stakeholder and customer focus, with experience understanding needs, balancing perspectives and shaping workable solutions
- The confidence to influence without formal authority and build trust through relationships
- Experience working in multidisciplinary environments; experience working with service designers or design led approaches is an advantage
- Some business analysis experience, such as process mapping, capturing requirements, analysing impacts, and translating insights into clear recommendations appreciated
- An understanding of government decision making and operating environments is preferred, but not essential
- Clear, professional written and verbal communication
- A collaborative and inclusive approach, contributing positively to team culture
- Accountability, sound judgement and attention to detail
- A structured, persistent and pragmatic approach to problem solving
- The ability to identify risks, manage complexity and remain calm under pressure
- Competency in the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Legal right to live and work in New Zealand.
