About the Role - Tēnei tūranga:

 

Working with the Commercial team, MBIE's internal procurement function, you will be the first point of coordination for procurement requests from across the organisation. You will triage enquiries and provide practical advice and guidance for procurement, in line with MBIE's procurement policy and the Government Procurement Rules.


Reporting to the Commercial Practice Manager, you will support the Commercial delivery teams by coordinating work, monitoring progress, maintaining reliable records and reporting on deliverables. You will use sound judgement to identify risks and escalate matters that require specialist commercial advice.


This is a varied role combining customer service, procurement coordination, systems support, reporting and continuous improvement. You will help ensure our commercial services are consistent, efficient and customer-focused.

 

Key responsibilities

 

  • Coordinate and triage procurement requests, providing advice and guidance on procurement processes, policies and pathways.
  • Support procurement systems, records and reporting, ensuring accurate data, compliance monitoring and governance oversight.
  • Maintain and improve commercial services, including templates, guidance, self-service resources and business processes.
  • Build procurement capability across MBIE through training, workshops, communications and stakeholder support.
  • Contribute to commercial delivery and continuous improvement initiatives, managing information requests, identifying risks and fostering strong stakeholder relationships.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

 

  • Experience in a commercial projects, procurement, business administration or related environment
  • Strong administration and coordination skills, with the ability to manage varied and competing priorities
  • Experience maintaining information systems and business processes, with a focus on data quality and reliable records
  • Ability to gather and synthesise information from different sources and produce clear, accurate reporting
  • Sound judgement, attention to detail and the ability to deliver precise work to tight deadlines
  • Clear written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present information succinctly
  • Strong relationship management skills and a practical, customer-focused approach
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • A relevant tertiary qualification, or equivalent experience in procurement, business administration, commercial operations or a related field, would be an advantage.
  • Complete a satisfactory credit check and police vetting.
  • The legal right to live and work in New Zealand.
