The Building and Tenancy Branch is committed to being data-driven and customer-focused. We use insights to improve service delivery and drive change across our work programmes. 

 

As a Business Intelligence Analyst, you’ll work closely with the business units on a range of data initiatives - building reports and dashboards, designing key metrics, and shaping how data informs performance and continuous improvement. 


You’ll be supported by a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst and connected to communities of practice to grow your capability and collaborate with others across the organisation. 

 

We’re also exploring how artificial intelligence can enhance our analytics capabilities - join us in shaping the future of data-driven service delivery 

 

Key responsibilities 

 

  • Build reports and dashboards - particularly using Power BI - to deliver actionable insights
  • Define and track key metrics for Building and Tenancy functions and services
  • Support and enhance Power BI tools for analysis and self-service across the branch
  • Train and advise users to maximise Power BI usage and improve data literacy
  • Collaborate with the TWSD Data Warehouse team and other colleagues to co-design innovative data solutions
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships across teams, adapting your approach to foster collaboration and shared understanding

Skills and Experience Required
 

  • Proven experience with Business Intelligence tools, strategies, and best practices
  • Strong competency in Power BI, DAX, T-SQL, and SAP Business Objects
  • Solid understanding of database systems and data environments
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to translate complex data into clear insights
  • A collaborative, customer-focused approach with strong relationship-building skills
  • Experience with SAS Enterprise Guide or similar tools is a plus
  • Highly motivated to develop technical expertise and continuously improve  
  • A team player with a proactive, adaptive style
  • Must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand
