Tēnei tūranga - About the Role:

 

We’re looking for a highly organised, relationship‑driven Branch Business Advisor to support the General Manager and Leadership Team within MBIE’s Communications and Government Services Branch.
This role is all about helping our branch run smoothly, building a positive and connected culture, and supporting the establishment and delivery of new initiatives. You’ll provide high‑level, confidential executive support to the General Manager and play a central role in coordinating activity across a busy, high-performing branch.

 

What you’ll be doing:

 

Branch Administration & Coordination
•    Organising and supporting branch hui, events, and communities of practice
•    Supporting branch strategy sessions and planning activities
•    Coordinating Leadership Team meetings and forward agendas
•    Supporting branch priorities and project delivery
•    Improving branch systems and processes
•    Coordinating administrative functions including the media management roster
•    Supporting induction for new staff

 

General Manager Support
•    Providing high‑level calendar, email, and workflow management
•    Managing confidential and urgent matters with discretion
•    Developing administrative systems that support good decision making
•    Enabling the GM to focus on key priorities and follow‑through

 

Branch Culture & Communication
•    Helping nurture a welcoming, collaborative, high‑performing culture
•    Coordinating branch communications channels
•    Supporting leadership to build a sense of common purpose

Skills and Experience Required
 

To be successful in this role, you will have: 

 

  • Proven experience supporting senior leaders, including complex diary management
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to juggle competing priorities
  • Experience in communications, government services, or a related political/government environment
  • Strong relationship management skills and confidence engaging with senior leaders
  • Ability to think strategically and turn ideas into action
  • Commitment to contributing to a positive, connected, high‑performing culture
  • Flexibility, resilience, and adaptability
  • Sound, inclusive decision‑making skills
  • Legal right to work in Aotearoa New Zealand
