About the Role - Tēnei tūranga:

 

As a Tenancy Mediator you will be a trusted kaitiaki-steward helping people resolve disputes, under the Residential Tenancies Act 1986 and the Unit Titles Act 2010.

 

You’ll work alongside a supportive team to provide guidance, problem-solving, information and awhi- support to landlords, tenants, body corporates and unit owners – with the goal of helping people find common ground and strengthen relationships.

 

Our tenancy mediators deliver mediation by phone, video conference and in person – connecting people to the right solutions, early and in a way that works for them.

 

We know trust and relationships matter – especially for Māori and Pasifika whānau – so we’re committed to making our service more accessible, respectful and community-focused.

Skills and Experience Required - Ngā pukenga me ngā wheako e hiahiatia ana:


We would love to hear from you if you have:

 

  • An understanding of what causes conflicts and relationship challenges, especially in our communities.
  • Knowledge of the Residential Tenancies Act 1986 and related laws – or willingness to learn.
  • Experience as a mediator, facilitator, community advocate or similar is a plus.
  • The ability to hold Manaaki- Support and maintain professionalism and confidentiality, even in emotionally charged situations.
  • Experience working alongside Māori, Pasifika and diverse cultures – and a genuine commitment to cultural safety.
  • Confidence to build trust with customers and stakeholders.
  • The ability to guide kōrero- discussion with people from all walks of life.
  • Flexibility to work across different mediation styles – phone, video and kanohi ki te kanohi (face to face).
  • Strong confidence in using Microsoft applications and databases, with openness and adaptability to evolving ways of working.
  • Accreditation or willingness to work towards accreditation with AMINZ, Resolution Institute or Law Society.
  • A commitment to adapt, learn and grow.
  • Must have the legal right to live and work in Aotearoa New Zealand.
