Tēnei tūranga - About the Role:
We are seeking an Administration Coordinator to provide high quality administrative and operational support to the Immigration Border Operations team. This is an on-site role and would ideally be suited to an organised and motivated individual with strong communication skills, sound judgement, and the ability to work confidently in a fast paced operational environment.
You will contribute to the effective delivery of border operations through the provision of clerical, coordination, and administrative support, while always upholding MBIE and Immigration New Zealand values. The role requires a high level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism, along with a strong customer service focus.
You will be part of a skilled and dedicated team committed to supporting frontline border operations. The role works closely with Border Officers and the airport management team, supporting operations both at the airport and or other offsite locations. This is an opportunity to experience meaningful work in a dynamic operational setting and contribute directly to Immigration New Zealand’s border outcomes.

Skills and Experience Required
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- High attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when handling sensitive or regulated information.
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated customer service capability, including the ability to remain calm and solutions focused under pressure.
- Well developed computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to quickly learn and confidently use internal systems, databases, and document management tools.
- Sound record keeping, data entry, and document coordination skills.
- Demonstrated integrity, discretion, and professionalism.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a diverse team.
- Adaptability and resilience in an operational and rotational work environment.
Kia angitū ai koe i tēnei tūranga – To be successful in this role:
- 1-3 years’ experience in an administrative coordination or support role, ideally within an operational environment.
- Proven ability to support frontline or business critical teams.
- Strong organisational, communication, and customer service skills.
- Experience managing confidential information appropriately.
- Confidence using computer systems and learning new tools.
- Ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, both independently and as part of a team.
Desirable (but not essential):
- Experience in an airport, border, or security controlled environment.
- Knowledge of public sector processes or values.
- Experience supporting shift based or rotational teams.
