Regional Skills Leadership Groups

Welcome to Regional Skills Leadership Groups

Regional Skills Leadership Groups (RSLGs) identify and support better ways of meeting future regional skills and workforce needs across Aotearoa.

The 15 RSLGs are locally based, regionally led independent advisory groups. They are a core element of the Reform of Vocational Education, alongside Te Pūkenga and Workforce Development Councils, and part of a suite of new employment system initiatives. They bring regional partners together to share information on demand and supply, shape local and regional workforce and skills responses, and influence regional and national labour market settings as needed.

RSLG members and co-chairs are regional leaders who are informed and passionate about improving employment outcomes for their region and have the standing to help bring about the changes needed. RSLG positions are part time and members/co-chairs can expect to spend approximately 16 hours a month on RSLG-related activities. RSLGs are supported by an MBIE-based secretariat.
