An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Executive Assistant to provide executive support to the General Manager, Economic Development and Tourism. As the Executive Assistant to the GM, you will also be a key member of our wider team.
Day to day responsibilities will be varied and will include:
- diary and event management.
- monitoring communication.
- tracking work in real time and working alongside the management team to ensure delivery.
- preparing documents.
- arranging travel.
- mentoring and guiding other Team Administrators in the wider team.

A strong client focus is important as well as the interest in building an understanding of the wider team, its priorities, business plans and the key stakeholders with which it interacts. You will maintain effective internal and external relationships, deal with high level, urgent and confidential issues and work effectively with the teams as needed.

Skills and Experience Required
We are keen to hear from you if you have:
- Experience as an EA to a General Manager (Tier 3 position) or higher.
- A proactive, can-do attitude with a high level of initiative, sound judgement and discretion.
- Confident and enjoy challenging the status quo to develop better ways of doing things.
- Wide ranging knowledge of administration systems and processes, including significant experience and proficiency covering Microsoft Office suite of applications.
- The ability to organise and prioritise workloads effectively, to ensure high quality results within deadlines.
- The ability to quickly establish and build strong working relationships and to develop trust and credibility with senior executives, staff and key internal and external stakeholders.
- Exceptional teamwork and collaborative abilities and a willingness to share knowledge and expertise with others.
- Highly developed communication and writing skills.
- Must be a New Zealand Citizen or permanent resident.
About the Team
The Economic Development and Tourism branch advises the Government on all things Economic Growth, Tourism and Hospitality. You will play an important role in enabling our GM and the wider team to deliver an ambitious work programme. The work in our branch is fast paced and varied and would suit someone who thrives in a busy environment and is happy to juggle multiple tasks.
