Members of the Building Practitioners Board

On behalf of the Minister for Building and Construction, the Ministry is seeking candidates who wish to be considered for appointment as a Member of the Building Practitioners Board.

The Building Practitioners Board (the Board) is established under section 341 of the Building Act 2004 (the Act). The Board is responsible for approving rules relating to LBPs, investigating complaints against LBPs and hearing appeals against decisions of the Registrar in accordance with the Act.

People with the following skills are sought to fill this vacancy

Specific skills required

Ideally, candidates will have some or all of the following:

  • building industry experience (design, construction or inspection work)
  • thorough knowledge of the Building Act 2004 (the Act) and the Building Code
  • dispute resolution experience
  • experience of working in a collegial decision-making environment.

Additional skills, experience and attributes required

At this time, the Minister of Building and Construction is seeking candidates for two roles with the following experience and expertise:

  • registered and current LBP. Expressions of interest are especially encouraged from LBPs in other areas, such as roofing or bricklaying.


  • A background in Architectural Design, with appropriate experience and qualifications.
